January 7, 2016 - sour plum, tart, lively but also edgy. touch spiced. not really balanced. refreshing but clearly needs food

July 22, 2012 - Not much going on here on the nose; certainly lacking the fruit Beaujolais can have. Perhaps I waited too many years to open this. In the mouth the wine is rather course, and impersonal. An uninspired wine that leaves me flat. At $25 for the Descombes, I'm beginning to think the less I spend on a bottle of Beaujolais the better since I drink these wines for their playful personalities, not for this dark, brooding style. At half the price, I get so much more pleasure from a bottle of Lapierre Raisins Gaulois.

87-88 pts
