December 5, 2015 - At first opening my daughter and I noticed sediment on the bottom of the Cork, a woodsy aroma, a doled but rich color, a faded rim. We agree with the 2011 comment that the taste was that of acetone\glue! Very disappointed that this bottle of wine got lost in my cupboard and we were not able to taste it when it was new!
January 4, 2013 - In all fairness, I haven't found a Beaujolais that I can say I've enjoyed yet. Just took the first sip out of the bottle, tart flavors of strawberry. The tartness is overpowering and takes away from the flavor. I'll let it hang out for a little while and see if it improves.
Ok, waited 30 minutes, here's what I can say - Color is a dark ruby with a nose full of strawberry, roses, and some earthiness. Strawberry up front, the tartness mellowed a bit but is still detectable in the mid-palette. The finish is clean if not a little disappointing.
November 22, 2012 - Thanksgiving 2012 (The Old Homestead): Thanksgiving - OK - ruby colored. A little close to grape juice when we opened it, but it settled in after a few hours. Bright, fruity, cherries. Medium acid. Wouldn't know a tannin if it hit it on the head. Good for turkey.
August 9, 2012 - Very interesting drinking experience. Strawberry overwhelmed almost all other flavors although it wasn't sweet as I was expecting. Very simple, but also enjoyable for sipping over the course of a couple of nights.
August 2, 2012 - Very sweet. Almost like dessert wine
March 11, 2012 - Modest nose of fresh dark fruit. Flesh of plum, light bodied but with structure. Slightly acidic and drying tannins. Medium-short finish.
February 24, 2012 - Subtle smell
Sweet start
Dry finish
Nice with marinara
November 2, 2011 - Lots of sediment.
August 16, 2011 - Wet, rotten tree. Dried overripe strawberries on the nose with hints of acetone/glue and wet paper
Taste follows the nose with added hints of bacon and old mushrooms.
July 7, 2011 - very good
