October 31, 2019 - Remains pale; limes, lemon blancmange; bone dry, vibrant, chalky; zesty brilliance. Will age effortlessly.
July 17, 2017 - Bright, burnished gold; vivacious nose, initial vanilla custard notes, then that preciseness of classic Riesling, clean (no kerosene); mid-weight, vibrant vitality, poised; extended finish, at its peak. Will hold effortlessly, for 5+ years.
January 27, 2014 - Quite a developed yellow colour. An almost overpowering smell of petrol/kerosene which lingers - it didn't blow off like I'd hoped. Underneath there's lemon, limes, honey, toast and lanolin. Fairly broad for a Wigan. Seems overly developed and on its way down hill. Lacks that great minerality some rieslings - including older rieslings - have.
Certainly, I have preferred the 2001, 2002 and 2003 Peter Lehmann Reserve/Wigan riesling vintages to this.
July 19, 2013 - Light lemony colored.
Nose is raw with flinty minerality, rubber notes, kerosene, and lime.
Medium to full bodied, flavorful, balanced and quite long.
Quite good for those who like the style.
September 4, 2011 - Consistent with previous bottle, balanced, vigorous.
March 28, 2011 - Had this at home with fried calamari and prawns. Straw with green hues. Typical aussie riesling nose with elegant kerosene, lime, limestone, gun flint and honey. Shows some development but it is still quite youthful. Mid-bodied with bright fruit, excellent minerality and a high, mouthwatering acidity. Really long finish. Will only improve with further cellaring.
March 1, 2011 - Pronounced straw colour; initial kerosene blew off quickly ( later found lurking underneath) honey & beeswax notes, toasty, chalky; dry, limes, focussed, signs of opening up, broadsword than rapier; expansive, finish yet taut. Very long, intense. May improve, can be drunk now & next 10 years. Terrific stuff.
February 18, 2011 - 2011 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting (Olympic Park, Homebush): Gold medal. {screwcap} An aged but kerosene-free nose of toasty honey, limes and minerals. Rich, persistent flavours, dry, chalkily-textured, medium-bodied. Tastes younger than it smells. A long, somewhat austere, but wonderfully even finish coats all the tongue; it’s a terrific wine with another 5 years at least of development in front of it.
