March 2, 2024 - La Paulée de Los Angeles Gala Dinner (The Fairmont - Santa Monica CA): Small glass. And now for something completely different. Still fresh enough, amazingly big and complex combination of fruit, spice, toasted brioche, and so much more.

November 30, 2023 - Piemonte: Truffles instead of Turkey; 11/23/2023-12/2/2023 (Barolo, Barbaresco, Alto Piemonte and of course Alba): The cork was really stuck in there and so I was very much hoping that we would get a pop but alas ‘twas not to be. There are some bubbles here and if you like old champagne (we do) then you would very much have enjoyed this wine. It was more the memory of bubbles. A bit oxidized but also kind of round and slightly caramely. Tasty.

November 13, 2023 - Beautiful transparency looking thru backlit, the pour revealed still vibrant mousse and golden brown hue in the glass. Well-aged DP aromas of anjou pear tart, butter scotch and lime, but the palate was where it stood above other 60s and 70s DPs i've cherished in the past. Aged DP sometimes shows a textural element that I find less than seamless (in contrast to well-aged Cris & Krug) but this bottle showed a gorgeously silken palate of sweetness, uplifted by a fresh acidity.

April 27, 2023 - Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): This was just straight up rocking and didn’t stop. Still had some bubbles. Good evolution. Drinking really nicely and kept getting better in the glass. Stunning. A perfect way to end the afternoon drinking on the porch as Les Avises with some friends on the last afternoon of our trip.

    February 20, 2023 - Dom Perignon 1973.
    Nydelig ren nese.
