September 23, 2017 - Garnet color. Balsam wood and a hint of volatile acidity which faded. Light weight. Gorgeous faded sweet red fruit, smokiness, spice, lively acidity. This acquitted itself beautifully over 3 hours, holding, developing, and never folding despite its advanced age. The fourth bottle I've had since 2013 at this remarkably consistent level. Bravo!

January 6, 2017 - 1970 BODEGAS FRANCO-ESPANOLAS BORDON CORSECHA SPECIAL RIOJA- decanted for 15 minutes prior to serving; from a great vintage in Rioja, this showed beautifully albeit with considerable age represented first by the light browning color and then from the very sweet tertiary fruit notes of spicy red and black cherry; it was delightful and so giving of its fruit flavors in a light to medium expression.

April 18, 2016 - Mid ruby. Bright and clean but ever so slightly Woody on the attack. Mildly corked I think, though it doesn't get worse, but not does it blow off. Having had good bottles previously, this one is a touch off. Shame.

March 21, 2016 - Pale tawny red. Balsam wood and faded red fruit. Gentle, mellow, subtly sweet fruit, and lovely spice. This persisted and improved for several hours. My favorite of the 3 Franco Españolas wines tonight and just a beautiful older Rioja.
