September 17, 2023 - From a magnum opened 6 hours in advance of dinner. The nose is all fruit leading to a palate of berries, plums, cherries and hints of dried spices. The finish was moderate to long. Drinking nicely at 15 years of age.

August 23, 2022 - Deep purple. Needs half an hour or more to breathe. Rich blackberry and plum aromas. Good balance. Still will be drinkable for several more years. Great with aged cheese

July 8, 2021 - shared with pat at selkirk manor. i continue to prune the cellar of wine with past due drink by dates. i purchased this wine at a tasting presented by joe canal of woodbridge in 2010. i remember the event as if it occurred yesterday. where has the time gone. unfortunately, my short term memory is not as strong and i have been lazy about taking written notes. this wine was certainly worthy of more fastidious attention. as a baby sassicaia, this wine demonstrates the overall quality of product offered by this producer. the wine is robust and full considering that it is thirteen years past vintage. lots of dark berry fruit. long finish. excellent qpr. thoroughly enjoyed this wine.

May 6, 2018 - Ok balance, but a little dryness from the tannins that will never melt away compared to the fruit. Drink now I guess

March 10, 2018 - Ripe blueberries and cassis, dark chocolate, licorice and fragrant cedar. Rich and balanced palate echoing the noise. Good transition from entry to mid-palate, a touch of gap transiting to finish though. Finish is deep and lingering. Palate is not as good as the nose.

April 26, 2016 - My Birthday dinner at Chef Vola in Atlantic City, we opened the magnum and let it sit for almost two hours while we drank some Brunello. Dark berries on the nose, the palate was mixed berries, leather and hints of thyme. A nice smooth finish.
