  June 19, 2022 - Fading crimson with large clear edges. Leather, blueberry pie, and spice nose. Medium to full bodied, crushed black cherries, black pepper, dusty blackberries, fully integrated tannins, a bit of heat, dark chocolate, and a long finish. This bottle was in its prime.

  May 25, 2011 - Major disappointment. I'm out back splitting green oak into firewood. A small piece flies off. I pick it up and chew on it. That would be this wine. Maybe it's in a funny place, but I don't think age will help. Oaky red fruit on the nose. An initial attack of bright red fruit on the palate, but then very unpleasant oak - lots of oak. Supposedly $86 at retail - on sale at the state monopoly store for $30. I am returning my remaining three bottles - not willing to bet that this will improve with time.

  November 9, 2010 - Tasted fresh from winery; typical MtV nose right upon opening, nice bouquet; lovely drinking wine right from the start, balanced yet deep. Light on it's feet, but not a shallow wiine...buy more...easy 5-10 yrs life on this one, but pretty solid now.
