April 28, 2024 - Another lovely experience with the 1998 Yquem. It continues to develop slowly, with a really intense note of nectarine. Mango, pineapple, apricot, honey, ginger, and fine herbs are all found. It married incredibly well with a 12 month Comte and a salty Brie de Meaux. So good

February 11, 2024 - Quite dark color. Honey, cane sugar, polishing wax, orange bitterness, good acidity and a good length. The wine is quite mature.

December 2, 2023 - Quelque peu déçu par la bouteille, une liqueur en deçà de mes attentes avec une matière en retrait en comparaison d'autres années, je pense notamment à 1996.

November 19, 2023 - Thanksgiving Mondo Dinner 2023 (Atlanta, GA): Served non-blind. This was exactly what my palate needed at this point in the line-up. Served at 50 degrees and paired with a delicious terrine of Foie Gras on brioche toast with Apricot jam. Perfectly paired and served as a wonderful palate cleanser, which inspired me to go cellar diving. The Yquem was darker in color (caramel) than maybe it should be at this age. Nevertheless, delicious!

September 25, 2023 - Opened and poured. Yellow in color. The nose like candied ginger. The palate was white plums, candied ginger and apricot with hints of honey. The finish was long and smooth. Went perfectly with the baked plum torte it was served with.

September 2, 2023 - This is at a great moment in its life. Honey apricot marmalade. No harshness at all. Complex. A delight to drink. Many more years but definitely in its prime but not peak.

June 15, 2023 - Fro 37,5cl, perfect cork. Ethereal, weightless wine with a salty touch. Refreshing, lithe and lifted, this was best on its own - even if other people at the table found it accompanied a range of cheeses well. If ever a Sauternes was made which merited the designation "palate cleanser" this is it. Mature in this format already, but can hold. 91P
