September 12, 2019 - Candied pinot nose; a touch herbal/ tobacco. Smokey. At this stage more cola than red fruit on the palate. Ripe; reasonable acidity - enough for it to last a bit longer. It’s not fading, it’s just an average Pinot and a bit too sweet, touch hot for my palate.

June 2, 2018 - Disappointing. Reduced sulfur notes on the nose. There's some lovely intense fruit underneath, but it's hard to get over that nose. Soft tanins and not enough acidity to carry the fruit. Almost non-existent finish. I waited a day and the reduced nose blew off and showed some soft spice notes, but nothing else changed. I like Sean's Orion, but if this is an example, he doesn't know what to do with Pinot.

    November 2, 2016 - Cough syrup. Not a fan.

July 16, 2016 - Splitting the difference of my last two reviews. This wine is likely at its peak, but should hold here for a few years. One more bottle to consume. Poured this beside the 2008 with Duck Legs Braised in Pinot Noir (no, I did not use Thackrey for the braise). This was my preference along with 2 other guests. The other three were '08 fans. This is just so elegant now, very Burgundian. Got red and black fruits here, and almost no eucalyptus/menthol. Still a beauty.

March 2, 2016 - Fine Wine Room Opening (Acker Merrall): This is a bit more intensive than what I like my wines to be. Was lacking in acidity to balance out the strong fruit and brambles and thus the almost jammy characteristic came through. There were hints of herbaceous notes - maybe mint, but it still felt overall just too much.
