  May 4, 2023 - More than two years later, this still doesn't reveal much colour development, being a bright, lightish to mid-yellow. The nose needs some coaxing before showing yellow citrus and candied citrus, but not much time is needed for ripening peach to be detected. With the opening mouthful, the palate has a soft entry, with a broad and, for its class, a concentrated expanse of ripening yellow fruit and some creamy flavours before an acidic conclusion. However, it doesn't take long for the fruit to join the run to the finish, making for an enjoyable bottle of Mosel. Though I obviously preferred it considerably more a decade ago when it was bursting with crunchy green apple, this bottling is still very good at almost 15 years of age. The less than a dozen remaining bottles of the six dozen or so purchased shortly after release have proved in their later years to be nice cellar-defenders. 2028 should be within its sights.

While not at Spätlese level, I would not have thought at any earlier point that this was a latent Kabinett. Yes, more concentration than a QbA, but simpler than a good Kabinett. Still, showing very well. Should hold for another 5 years. Merits a very good rating.
