July 20, 2019 - From an outstanding looking bottle, this wine had a light gold center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose put showed apples, lemons, petroleum jelly, quince, and minerals.

In the mouth, this wine was light bodied with lovely rounded acidity. It was a bit quiet and short at first but developed very well in the glass. It ended up being quite long and complex but in a refined way.

This wine had absolutely gorgeous complexity and balance. It was certainly appropriately labeled Auslese and not Beerenauslese. Despite its excellence, I would have liked to see a bit more intensity to merit a higher score.

January 28, 2018 - AP 16-78. Day 2. OK, now I can spend some time with this. Deep orange gold - deep bass flavors of peach, smoke, tangerine, spicy, floral. Floating and still. A great entry on the palate with apple, peach, apricot, sweet tangerine, spice. Just a touch soft at points. Finishes with a kiss of caramel and lovely fruit. What a way to say goodbye to an old friend. Nose - 5.5-6/6, Palate - 5-5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5-2/2 = 17.5-19/20.

January 27, 2018 - The last from a legendary parcel of 11 bottles. Soft beautiful peach, apple and spice. Perfect balance. Gives you and idea of what infinity feels like as the palate and the finish complete a converging series as the limit >> ∞. (See 1/28/2018 note for more details).

January 27, 2018 - Alt Rieslingfeier (New York City, NY): #16-78, 10% abv. I had been fully enamoured with the 1973 Eiswein, when this came along and slapped me out of my infatuation. This is riesling on a scale that s modernist Bordeaux could only dream to accomplish. Incredibly massive and expansive, this is one of the greatest Auslese that I've had. It oozes botrytis out of every pore. It's insanely sweet but held back by the acidity. There's an array of fruit that I can't enumerate. Mindbendingly good.

January 17, 2018 - SLDS January 2018: #16. Wow, so much going on with something new shown on each sniff - spice, orange, rosewater, toast, coconut, lime and grapefruit. Superb complexity on the palate as well, the balance is stunning, with the sweetness quite delicate and acidity still pushing through. The last bottle of this was stunning, but tonight had an extra dash of magic.
