October 13, 2014 - Instructive wine for $8. This bottle is less bretty than previous; more sweaty horse than poop. This one wasn't cabbagy either so no fault there. The fruit crashed faded pretty quickly, replaced with vegetal flavors, tannin, acid and brett. Long unpleasant tannic and sour finish. The brett is manageable enough to avoid "FLAWED". Interesting from an educational standpoint, but lacked anything to recommend it. Your most wine geeky friends might find it interesting. Save it for them.

February 1, 2013 - Consistently good everyday wine. Can't do better for $7.

January 18, 2013 - This was better with some time to open up. It was too acidic for one of my guests, and another thought it smelled like feet. I thought it tasted like an inexpensive wine, but with more interest than grocery store commodity wine at the price point.

December 6, 2011 - Initial overpowering barnyard nose blew off a bit after a few minutes, but resulting wine is weirdly acidic and plummy at the same time. Like thin plum wine gone bad. Throw in some slight frizzante in the mouth and a "cabbagey" finish. I'm gonna say flawed, but it seems consistent with other tasters experience.

November 10, 2011 - Barnyard funk, earth, red fruit and coffee on the nose with a palate of raspberry tart cedar light hints of spice that trail on to the finish

(OUPIA Les Heretiques) $7.99 Dear Friends, This wine is a ridiculous value and it's drinking well now. If you veer toward the elegance of the old-world - elements of earth, underbrush, tobacco and a touch of deep black fruit mixed with tanned hide, this wine could be one of the top buys of the year. It's lovely texture is an alluring attribute indeed - somewhat of a cross between the South and Vosne-Romanee with sneaky tannins that give more than enough structure. Naturally grown and vinified (I believe it's 100% organic), I'm not sure there are many values of terroir as sound as this in the $7.99 range? I don't have the varietal breakdown but it smells and tastes like mostly Carignan to me. Give this 30 minutes of air and enjoy the detailed expression that belies it's price. Look up whatever TNs you need to but this wine deserves to be tasted. Wine geek house wine?
