October 6, 2016 - Popped and poured at fridge temp. Nice notes of petrol along with good sweet yellow fruit on the nose. The palate follows with rather sweet yellow fruits, a bit lacking in acidity, or perhaps this is a tad too young still? Not much experience with Spätleses, so I can't really tell. A very nice quaff in any case, went well with a (sort of) curry made with chickpeas and chicken.

October 9, 2014 - Gentle Riesling yumminess on the nose: apples, honey, peaches, beeswax, yoghurt and peppery bite.
Quite sweet, pretty full bodied and concentrated Riesling juice with some effervescence and not a lot of focus. Peach to ripe apple fruit with some more bitter citrus and tea-like herbacous notes.
Good stuff although a bit awkward.

February 23, 2013 - Yellow-green color of an unripe lemon. Very youthful nose with only a light petrol note suggesting some age; rich aromas of honey, sweet apricot, fruit salad and a hint of lemon zest. Very sweet (85 g/l of RS) and full-bodied with rich petrol character and only modest acidity. Gentle flavors of sweet honeyed notes, juicy citrus fruits, some lemon marmalade, a little apricot and a hint of exotic spice. The acidity does not give the wine enough bite and freshness, but keeps the wine from coming across as fat and flabby; the low (8,5%) alcohol gives the wine lovely airy quality. The finish is quite rich with intense flavors of honey, slatey minerality and quite acid-driven lemon notes. Although the aftertaste begins sweet, the acidity and mineral notes dry up the finish quite nicely, leaving the mouth-cleansing aftertaste very fresh and focused.

A treat on its own and a wonderful wine to be paired with desserts or dishes that really don't require much acidity. I expected a wine much heavier in expression, but was positively surprised by the lightness and freshness of the wine. Still, this is a very ripe, full-bodied and rather low-acidity wine for a Mosel Spätlese. Not a wine to be aged for decades, but probably will benefit from 5-10 years of cellaring. Well-made warm-vintage Spätlese. A good purchase at 20,10€.

January 12, 2013 - I liked this wine despite the fact that I would have liked to have a bit more backbone and vibrancy via acidity. Lemon yellow colour. Robust, thick and somewhat developed nose. Honey, ripe apricot and a whiff of petrol. The palate is fresh in spite of pronounced sweetness. Flavours lean towards apricot and honey - in line with the nose. Aftertaste is shortish and somewhat one-dimensional.

September 20, 2012 - Very light golden, fizzy. Very young and fruity, typical, quite intense on the nose starting with apples and getting all sweeter and riper. Bright, fruity palate with some minerality, rather rich and sweet, baked apples, apricots. Barely sufficient acidity. Light spiciness. Med. length.
