November 4, 2023 - Nice enough CDP. Purple and dark. Incredible depth of fruit really dominates, and likely hid some of the alcohol. But may have also made it a bit one-dimensional for my palate. Ready to go, but no need to rush
January 29, 2023 - 2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape tasting: En magnum. Half of the bottle decanted for about 2.5 hours. The other half stayed in the recorked bottle.
Rich fruit, alcoholic, licorice, not very complex. A little lacking in structure, this has mostly it's fruit, alcohol and sweetness going for it. Surprisingly, there was almost no difference between the wine served from the decanter and the wine served from the bottle.
September 24, 2022 - Next to last bottle of this delicious CdP Still in prime time. drink or hold
November 3, 2020 - SOAC dinner at BCN served with rabbit. 100% Grenache from i0+ year old vines. Bought this on release. The color is still more purple but starting to see so,e bricking and not as inky as last tasting. On the nose and palate this is ripe bordering on overripe but really enjoyable with deep rich cassis amd black cherry notes and a long finish. With loads of fruit on the mid palate amd a long finish, this seems like it could continue to age gracefully and become more elegant. Good now but no rush to enjoy now. 94+
September 13, 2019 - Really, really good. Soft, balanced, long, delicious. I have to think this is peaking, but honestly cannot be sure.
March 13, 2018 - Nice
March 10, 2018 - Ok but not great
November 22, 2017 - The fruit was really nice but something seemed a little off or funky with this bottle. Certain things about this were very nice but overall I wasn’t a fan.
October 25, 2017 - Chateauneuf-Du Pape, The 2007 Vintage, A 10 Year Retrospective: This was the third wine of an 18 wine horizontal of 2007 CdPape. Not a lot of notes on this but it held its own in a strong lineup. I noted that is was slightly lighter bodied than average of this heavy hitter group and nice red fruit nose and flavors. In a good place but still youthful.
September 8, 2017 - A very good CdP. Big but not overly. Rich in all aspects, big fruit, sweet, chocolate, darker ripe fruits, plums, fig, juicy red fruits, savory, drinking surprisingly smooth for being this big and still not a very old wine. Decanted for 3 hours and after that drank really well right away. First of 4 and very happy I got 3 more.
