Community Tasting Notes 5

July 13, 2014 - Obvious notes of maturity here, some would probably say it's gone too far. A incredible nose, just spectacular. Truffle, damp wooden floor, rosehip, raisin, dried apricots, leather, a bit oxidised and a sherry-like feeling. So complex, I could sniff this all day.
The palate comes across as a little more tired. Cherries, strawberries, rosehip, sherry and leather. After an hour in the glass it becomes sweeter and more towards the strawberries.
This i an act of balance between being perfect and being over the hill, pretty much comes down to what you want from a wine for the moment. Needless to say you should expect some bottle variation. Left feeling fortunate to have tried some of the great Antonio Cerris work.

July 28, 2013 - Cloudy brown in the glass and dead as doorknobs. Well ok, a brief moment spent pining for the fjords, one last caramel-scented sigh, and then toes up and totally expired.

March 22, 2013 - The Usual Suspects...a new tradition; 3/22/2013-3/24/2013 (Lucerne Inn): Color: Brick ruby
Smell: Earth, manure, black truffles, tar, and dried red fruits
Taste: Sour cherry, and dried red fruits.
Overall: Excellent - Outstanding. Light-medium body, med+ tannin, medium acidity, med- fruit.

August 13, 2012 - - Ruby color and has flavours of sherry and moldy - Way passed its prime. No fruit left.

June 12, 2011 - A wonderful expression of place and time. Consumed with friends...so I'm likely to be scoring higher than normal. However, a wonderful bottle of wine
