April 29, 2023 - Consumed over 4 days (stored in Somm du Vin), note from day 4. Left this un-vacuumed in the Somm du Vin for 2 days and 2 days under vacuum. Note from day 4. Appearance: Clear, medium garnet with slight edge browning. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity with aromas of black cherry, tar, saddle leather, licorice, and rose petals. Palate: Dry, medium+ acid, pronounced tannins - soft up front but quite grippy in the back-end, medium body, medium+ intensity, 14.5% abv with flavors of black cherry, black currant leaf, spice, and leather with a medium+ finish.
Overall, this is a classic Barolo, a bit on the savory side, still several years from peak despite its 17 years of age. Drinking best on the 4th day after opening. Just a classic Barolo - still likely 5 years or more from peak. -

January 17, 2022 - No formal notes. Just not a special wine. Dark fruit, a touch stewed (professionally stored since release), strong tannins which are not well integrated. I doubt this will benefit from more cellar time but if I had any more I would likely wait to try it again in a few years (maybe awkward stage, but after 16 years?).

December 19, 2021 - Decanted one (1) hour. Garnet w/bricking at rim. Reveals aromas of rose petal, red cherry, dark chocolate and licorice. Fully integrated. Red fruit is waning slightly with floral expressions and undertones dominating. Delicate weight and balance on the palate. Provides evenly distributed finish.

December 4, 2021 - Medium garnet with a orange hue at the rim. Plum and red berries on the nose, spices at the end. Savoury long finish, silky tannins, mellow acidity.
