March 26, 2016 - Ended up really liking this wine. Bought from the tasting room to avoid the tasting fee... was not impressed on release.

Now with 9 years on it the wine is ready. Smells like wet concrete. Cherry flavor with a lite leather note. Abruptly ends with a lite mineral finish. And for the third time in this review it has a lite mouth feel.

Will make it a point to revisit this tasting room.

December 13, 2015 - I thought this was terrific. Drank over 3 days. Definitely had the pepper and spice mentioned in other notes on Day 1, but the black pepper calmed down afterwards. Stayed consistent over the next two days, medium finish with decent dark fruit and mild tannins. I'd say don't wait any longer.

August 5, 2014 - Lambert's bottle (recent Costco purch at $45). Drinking superbly now, but here's the problem: this is a 7 year old wine that's already at the peak of full secondary development--a place it should have taken 10-15 years to get to, and the short timeline has robbed it of the profundity of real wine adulthood. So it's fully mature in a way that's somewhat simplistic and naive. Soft and leathery with fully resolved tannins. Drink up!

July 8, 2014 - Restrained at first and then opened up to reveal soft, red fruit. Good mouth feel, medium finish.

(Chateau Rollat Rollat Walla Walla Valley) Reasonably light in color, this wine is marked by rich chocolate mixed with black cherry on the nose. On the taste, black pepper and spice show through on a beautifully structured wine with just the right amount of acidity.
