February 29, 2024 - Deep color, still pretty youthful. Notes of red berries, also some dark fruit, mint, nail polish, some herbal notes, slightly fresher and youthful. Medium-full bodied, but slightly lighter than 2004, with high acidity and medium-high tannin that is a little less pronounced than 2004 and 2001. Good length. Very good but maybe not as substantial as 2004.

January 20, 2024 - Tannins are still quite strong. Coming together nicely, but will probably be even better in a few years

October 29, 2023 - Decanted 3 hours. Drank over 2 days. Dark brick red. No age showing on edge. Tannins at first, more mellow day two. Needs air. Some spice, Cherries. Long finish. Very nice.

July 25, 2021 - Pruney but structured on the first night, when most of it was consumed - without enough decanting. By the third evening, it was more fresh and mineral, and more fun to drink. The lesson for me yet again: more air.

May 7, 2021 - Very mature, for me a little bit over the top, but for true Piedmont classisists probably not even close to peak.
On the nose wet forest floor and stewed, sweet fruit, a bit cedary. in the palate very mature. No fruit left, only tertiary notes. Still nice soft tannins. Good but for me it would have been better 2-5 years ago. Up for discussion though

October 3, 2020 - This was simply not ready - tight, tart, and bitter at first, which finally gave way to a subdued nose of graphite, leather, anise, and a hint of road tar. We decanted and it finally came together at around the 3-4 hour mark, with it being at its best with 5-6 hours of air, although it never gained the degree of complexity that I expected. For our tastes, it needs more time in the cellar.

April 22, 2020 - As this opened up some fruit emerged from the predominately tobacco flavors. Juicy, well balanced. There is a certain bitterness to the fruit that in this instance detracts from the overall impression IMO.

August 27, 2019 - Strawberries, cherries, roses, rosemary, dark chocolate. Tannins velvet but still very present. Good to drink now but no need to rush.

August 6, 2019 - Still solid, yet plenty acidic, with a fine future and a very generous mouth filling expression of nebbiolo. As I drink this I am reminded that to express itself fully, nebbiolo very much needs needs a strong crisp acidic backbone. Since the 2013's, and I have my doubts about some of those, the modern style nebbiolos from Barolo I have tasted have not delivered that acidic backbone and while certainly of quality, to me they offer less than that full expression of nebbiolo.
