March 26, 2017 - While I can appreciate the effort, this is not my style of a modern Cali chardonnay. You would think with 9 years under its belt that the acidity would be more settled and not overwhelm the fruit but here it does. Just difficult to find balance among the tangy fruit (mainly tangerine).

September 10, 2016 - Wonderfully balanced - vanilla butterscotch apple tropical fruit pushes against fresh lime zest acidity. Good persistence on front part of tongue. Great w romaine and fresh orange salad w honey lemon vinagrette. Yum.

July 23, 2016 - Rich, full, coconut and vanilla laced wine. Not my style, but you could see why this is liked. Ripe, slightly sweet and a nice long finish.

April 20, 2016 - From magnum, just shipped from the winery a few weeks ago, this was in prime form. Lemon cream, spice, tangerine zest and vanilla aromas carried through on a bright yet rich palate where the spice really kicked in on the finish. Incredibly fresh from large format, this has time in hand. I am not a huge proponent of California Chardonnay, but Ramey Hyde Vineyard is a truly exceptional wine.

April 9, 2016 - Ramey Hyde Vineyard is a tremendously consistent wine that will likely be adored by those that like the California Chardonnay style. Lots of oak and rich buttery vanilla lace the primary fruit flavors. Over the years, my tastes have migrated away from highly oaked whites, but the fruit in this wine is still so good that I enjoy it immensely on a warm spring/summer evening. Golden color. Apple and butterscotch on the nose with some mineral notes. Palate is crisp with granny smith apple and Meyer lemon. High acidity, full body and long dry finish. This wine is still drinking well now, but do not hold any longer. A short decant or aeration will help with integration of the oak and allows the wine to settle into balance.

November 4, 2015 - Wow, I'd swear this had residual sugar like a KJ made Char. I'm not sure I love that aspect of the wine. Still yet, there was a lot of there there, a certain oaky sweetness, molasses, baked apple in a strong way. Acidity there but in check. Do I love it, no, do I appreciate it, yes. Probably has a couple of years left but I've got to believe it is in a good phase now.
