May 17, 2021 - Decant of 3 hours. Really humming. Blackberry and plum dominate both bouquet and flavor. Full bodied without being a fruit bomb. Very well integrated tannins. Probably drinking a peak but no signs of decline in the next 3 years or so. Very good.
April 7, 2019 - Great wine for the price. Drinking really well.
March 6, 2019 - Dead ringer for top notch Bordeaux. Earthy, subdued fruit, long pleasant finish.
October 6, 2018 - PnP over a 2 hour dinner w/friends out at our favorite dive Italian Pizza place.
No formal notes taken, but this bottle is ready for business and considering the 'price for admission' this was an amazing QPR!!
A bit lighter style compared to Mike Smith style cabs, but was the perfect wine to pair with some hearty Italian food, and held its own. Mostly Black and Red fruit, with a great mid and a decent finish.
I did not notice any signs of 'slipage' and think this bottling has a min of another 5+ years, so if you've got'em, in a great drinking window, but no rush to consume!
91-92 (would say a 91+... but considering what food it was up against, think 92 fits)
October 1, 2018 - I agree with the others. This wine is very good right now. The finish is amazing and lasting.
April 28, 2018 - Excellent, so smooth, great balance. Very smooth. Tanins have mellowed out.
April 14, 2018 - The last of a case buy from 9 years ago. Outstanding with meal at steakhouse on big family celebration. Mature right now with secondary flavors. Drink now or over the next couple of years.
December 16, 2017 - Not as good as the bottle I had two years ago but still decent. We pnp'd through a vintorio. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, plum and some tree bark which made it kind of tight. The finish was of moderate length.
September 9, 2017 - Really drinking well. Smooth, deep dark fruit and good grip. Really aging well.
February 24, 2017 - Still a powerful wine. Rich fruit up front, cherry and plum, good depth and balance with vanilla on the long finish. Only giveaway on the age is smooth tannins. Drinking very well now and probably still has a few more good years.
