November 5, 2019 - Most would go to Puligny for this one. The colour does not say 17 years old - more like seven. On the nose there is none of the iodine and honey one gets with most Chablis of this age. It's rounded and powerful like a good burgundy, but the acidity could give it away. With time, and temperature, there is a very pronounced smell of caramel. Not so nice!

November 2, 2019 - Aromas of butter, citrus, toffee, vanilla and some spices. Soft delicate and well balanced. More toffee after an hour in the glass.

August 14, 2018 - Generously brought by a friend, but sadly oxidized - a WineBid purchase (caveat emptor)

March 24, 2018 - PNP. Gold color. Great nose and drinks pretty well right out of the bottle but a bit of air improved it even more. Wonderful white burgundy that is fully mature, nice fruit - maybe slightly on the ripe side for Chablis, stones and shells. Great finish. Seems it will hold but in peak form now in my opinion. A

January 17, 2018 - Light gold. Iodine and candied apple on the nose. This put on weight in the glass, evolving from sweet apple flavors to an appealing saline minerality. Crisp and clean. The 2002 Preuses is drinking well today.

(Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses) Light yellow color; reduction nose with a touch of TCA; tight, tart citrus, kumquat, mineral palate; medium finish (the slight TCA in this case had relatively little impact on the palate, so I still felt I could rate this particular sample, despite the slight TCA that was clearly on the nose; nonetheless, when I tasted it on first release I rated it a 96)

Rockss and Fruit

(Dauvissat Chablis "Les Preuses") This was extremely young and tightly wound but oh so promising. Nose of powdered rocks, oyster shells, slight green apple and some old wood aromas. Very pure and mineral nose. Palate was a little out of whack in the beginning but soon integrated with fierce swirling. The acidity was intense and crunchy along with a very high-toned citrus fruit vibe and a finish that would not quit....did I say a finish that would not quit . . .did I say a finish that would not quit. Absolutely astounding finish that livelied up your mouth (apologies to Bob Marley.)This just lingered and lingered. This is an infant and was easily the youngest tasting wine of the night. I would not open another bottle for ten years minimum. This will last easily another thirty years. A monument to the vintage.

(Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses) Tight nose; oily textured, tight, mineral, citrus palate; long finish (needs several years)
