    April 7, 2019 - Screened into a decanter and then drank over several hours. Decanting was a good idea as there was significant sediment cake visible throughout the bottle (and the wine still turned my tongue black after decanting). The wine is solid- to dark-red, with blackberry, currant, mint, graphite, and a touch of tomato leaf on the nose (with a very light note that seemed like it might be TCA, but again much in the background). In the mouth, this is dense and smooth, with a nice sweetness that pulls through a satisfying finish. Overall, this is ready now and nicely rendered. I have pinch of doubt that there may have been some very light corkiness here, so I may be scoring lower than warranted. Take that as you will. 92 points.

    January 4, 2019 - Some initial smoke cleared and the pure dark currant emerged after an hour....drinking well....mature. Evolves quickly.

    December 31, 2018 - Cork snapped halfway up those showed no signs of seepage. Wine was a solid right out of the bottle and was follow over 2 hours, not decanted. Very old, dark fruit, tobacco, leather all provided an earthy backdrop. About 2 1/2 hours after opening this began disintegrating a little bit more than I’d like but was still a very solid from an apple vintage it wasn’t as good as many of its surrounding years.

    Wine is ready to drink now, and wouldn’t hold beyond 2023 for optimal enjoyment. would not decant either. .

    August 24, 2018 - Since I last tasted 2 years back, the 2003 HM has become more round, lush, and accessible. This was very enjoyable even on PnP. Full bodied with silky tannins and medium acidity. Notes of cassis, blueberry, dark cherry, earth, ceder, and black licorice. Although smooth and plush, it lacked some of the minerality and freshness I get with Dunn HM and felt a bit heavy and jammy on the palate, likely a product of the warmer 2003 vintage. If tasting blind, I would not have guessed Dunn HM.
