June 1, 2015 - Fading garnet red. Vibrant nose of sweet red cherry, asian spice, currants, and alcohol (it does come in at 14.6%). There is an initial burst of sweet spice on the palate, evolving into notes of cherry, earth, and more savory spice. Big bodied pinot, there is still acidity in the mid-palate that cuts across the heft. Medium plus finish with enough lingering acid to keep it fresh. Tannins are integrated, but more prevalent on the finish. Still very good.
January 16, 2015 - Dark red color. Cherry nose with a hint of spice. On the palate it is richer than expected, blossoming with cherry, black cherry and spice. There is a slight alcoholic note on the medium plus finish. Quite enjoyable.
September 17, 2014 - A bit hot at this stage in its development though it settled down with air. Perhaps not the best day to open a red (105F)
February 13, 2014 - Much better on day 2. Only fruit on day 1.
January 30, 2013 - Similar notes as the last few. Nice color, not too light but not too dark (looks like a Pinot). Bright red fruit, but the finish was a bit sharp. Gained a bit of depth and richness with some air. Good but not great.
November 9, 2012 - in decline
October 3, 2012 - Good, but in a very acidic phase right now. Settled down with some air.
June 22, 2012 - Medium weight in flavor and finish but quite pretty raspberry and sweet sandalwood flavors are balanced and lengthy. Only a tad sharp in the finish keeps this from the outstanding range for me. Drink now.
April 9, 2012 - excellent. Cherry tones with a well integrated spice. Silky finish, very elegant pinot.
April 7, 2012 - Medium garnet color, with lifting aromas of fresh red berries and spices. On the palate, strawberry, cherry, sandalwood, and earthy mushroom flavors all come together in a light, refreshing package. Nice fruit, gentle spice, and smooth tannins, with a medium finish.
