March 31, 2021 - previous bottle was a little sour; this one is just perfect. Could have been 10 years ago. I have 2 bottles of CRB left...sigh....
March 29, 2021 - a bit sour. Did I wait too long, or is this just an off bottle? Others await.
June 1, 2013 - Brilliant wine, cool stony minerals, black pepper, blackberry leaf and fruit, lean but pretty at the same time.
Better with a little air.
Cold hold this longer, much longer depending on how you like them.
January 26, 2012 - Oh my, what a lovely drink. Ripe and round berry fruit, dirt, a warm, rainy wind over a back road in the summertime. Something like that anyway.
October 25, 2011 - even with the necessary pop and pour, this was alive and energetic. all the right stuff. so fresh, it could have been made yesterday.
September 10, 2011 - 6hr decant. First sip very slightly off-putting, like tree-bark tea. And then I totally fell for this wine. Black pepper, freshly turned root-laden soil, minerals galore, and a hauntingly familiar spiciness that I chased around my palate remaining always a step behind. Good concentration, muscular, wild, brambly, like the deep forest at dusky twilight.
August 22, 2011 - Inky purple. Chilled, then poured x 60 minutes. Aromas of blackberry jam, dried sage and earth. We tasted peppery flavors with a little bit of a green note, but herbal more than vegetal. This wine had soft tannins and nice lift and acidity. A very nice summer wine at a very good price.
June 6, 2011 - And on the fourth day: fantastic. Really wonderful on the first as well, but the flavors deepened and harmonized considerably over the weekend, as it stood forgotten in the fridge.
April 30, 2011 - Concentrated brambly fruit, earth and minerality. In the second hour, the thicket of flavors really burst into bloom. The dusky, herbal fruit of this wine reminds me of picking tart blackberries in the hot summertime with my grandmother.
November 14, 2010 - Same black pepper and sage aroma as last time. Spice laden palate, lingering black pepper finish. Very similar to the last time, but the wildness has been tamed somewhat. Opened 1 hour before drinking, should have opened earlier. While this was good after an hour, after two hours it really opened up, with great depth and structure.
