January 28, 2023 - Pronounced nose intensity with peppermint, toast, black fruits, spices. Medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin. Drinking within its drinking cycle. Decanted 1 hour. Will improve with more decanting time. Will probably not improve much except for secondary/tertiary notes.

December 27, 2022 - Remarkable stuff, if you fancy a feminine side of the Pauillac, this is for you and certainly for me! Beautiful ruby rouge in colour! Subtle nose of ripe pure wild berry fruits! The palate is of course delicate and silky smooth, having said that, it is wine full of energy and gave you a very long finish, the attack of the wild fruits goes on and on! An enlightening experience will put a smile on your face! A first growth quality!

December 27, 2022 - I thought maybe the 2001 would be able to step into the shoes of the 1996, which has always been an amazing wine. But "no" this is a completely different wine, made far more in the Parker style - it is really monolithic. I wonder whether this is biggest Pichon ever made? There is prominent charry oak here, which remains throughout but does recede a a little. This far fuller than you might expect if you know the Pichon Comtesses of the 1990's, nonetheless it retains some of the famous Comtesse elegance and feminine nature.

This has the Comtesse perfume, along with generous red and black fruits. Notes of leather revealing its age. Medium finish and largely straightforward still. This is still young and very primary. It will be better on 5 to 10 years, though it can be drunk now I would consider it a waste. Wil be very long lived.

December 26, 2022 - Decanted to remove sediment. Lovely BDX nose of cassis, dark berries, leather chair, and a subtle vegetal aroma. Medium to light-weight in the mouth with softened black cherry and cough drop leading the way. More depth and power would have netted another few points but this gentler offering still worked rather well. Likely won't improve but will hold.

December 26, 2022 - Classic Bordeaux with every adjective you can think of. Needed a few hours of aeration to even begin to have it begin to peel the layers back.

(Chateau Pichon Lalande) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-a little stinkified; some plum and licorice action; definite stinky beef jerky and a little pepper; a little blueberry; very aromatic; PALATE-bigger and meatier; big structure; has some really firm and tough tannins that some will be not love, but this is still quite youthful; this is Bordeaux at it's best as it can age; really sour cherries are dominating the mid-palate; pencil shavings coming through; also an intriguing mushroom component that I really like; this is young, but this is still so darn drinkable; RP-93; GV-90+

(CHATEAU PICHON LALANDE) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-awesome; meaty/fleshy component (Boars Head Ham); V8 juice w/ Tabasco sauce; underlining licorice aspect; TASTE-take a plum...wrap bacon around it..put it in a Microwave for 5 minutes (let plum explode)…take it out...slap on some black pepper & asparagus..THAT's exactly what this wine tastes like..and ME LIKE-Y; Bacon & Plum on your mouth all day...attacking; this is Old World; really beautiful; the Petite Verdot is singing (dark Plum); this is REAL Bordeaux; will last 10-20 years; RP-93; GV-94+
