August 27, 2018 - Undrinkable! High alcohol without any structure.
January 7, 2017 - Bitter. Didn't finish the bottle.
April 1, 2015 - I am about as negative on B&H wines given I have enjoyed a bottle or two out of many. 90% of their wines are overdone, stewed fruit and alcohol driven.
However after this bottle and other note maybe they have a ton of bottle variation as well. This bottle while was still in a more new world style it did not cross over the line. It had good balance, length, texture and some secondary flavors. Now my expectations for this bottle were minimal at best but objectively thought this bottle was pretty darn solid.
September 1, 2014 - Smelled of stewed tomatoes and prunes. Undrinkable
July 27, 2011 - Yuck! Opaque purple. Acetone & porty notes on the nose. Blueberries & general sweetness on the palate. A friend remarked that he would never guess it was cabernet if tasted blind. A poor excuse.
May 27, 2011 - Not bad but on its way down. Too pruny for my taste.
March 17, 2011 - Way over the top at this point. 15.4 alc dominating Pruny. I will check back in a few hours.
Dessert wine maybe. I do see the stuffing that got this wine an initial positive review
June 25, 2007 - Decanted 2 hours. Black purple color with nice nose of expresso, cocoa and black cherries. Velvetty and rich on the palate, the berry flavor depth was immense with hints of earthtiness and expresso coming through on the finish. Best Behrens I have had to date, with the 2001 Homage to Ed Oliveria coming in a close second. This was no fruit bomb and was a great example of Beckstoffer fruit from a cool vintage and a little better than the 1999 Hobbs Beckstoffer I had back in February. This can be enjoyed now or held for another few years, but why wait...
April 4, 2007 - Fabulous wine. Really amazing for it's purity and style. This is CA Cab with all the fruit and complexity you think if in a wine you might pay 5 times this much for. Congrats Les!
February 18, 2006 - Not my style wine...big all fruit cab with this having a fortified sensation on the nose and palate. Not sure how you pair a wine like with food...this would work with chees at the end of a meal but that sems like about it.
