December 3, 2017 - it's smoky, leathery, earthy, and a touch tarry on the nose - very similar to new South African reds; the palate is a little more enticing with dried fig, cassis, and coffee while still doling out everything from the nose on to the palate.

February 3, 2011 - Early nose has a strong scent of hotdog water (yes, hotdog water) which fades after a little breathing and becomes very green & spicy, a little nutmeg. Subtle tannins, with a sour cherry taste but not too much zing. Aftertaste does not linger very long. ($10)

February 23, 2010 - Flattening; flavor is muted although still has structure but minimal complexity; limited dark cherry and dried fruit.

May 1, 2008 - I probably would not have liked this as much on its own, but with barbecue chicken its weight and spice worked quite well!

February 6, 2008 - Clear dark ruby color. Muted nose of red cherry, spice & hints of oak. Red cherry on the palate, also dried fruit (raisin?) and definitely some heat. Medium body, decent balance with chewy tannins, but enough fruit & acidity to be drinkable now.
