March 22, 2020 - little age on this wine but it is difficult to see where this wine is - not much complexity even though the tannins are fully resolved

September 7, 2019 - Decent wine if a bit awkward and boring for a Cote Rotie from a ripe vintage. Maybe this wine is closed as the aromas and flavors are reserved. Floral berry notes with a sour fruit character. The finish is flat and short. Not really sure what to expect from remaining bottles but will probably hold in hopes this wine opens at some point.

June 24, 2019 - This wine is rocking. Surprisingly so. I expected something bigger - something more inky based on my last bottle (10 years ago). To my excitement, this wine showed classic animal and game notes mixed with bright fruit and some more modern menthol. Rich, balanced with a bright finish. This is great grill wine. Terrific. This as good a Guigal b&b as I can remember drinking. (93)

February 8, 2019 - Drinking very nicely now with lots of fruit and good acidity. Nicely framed by gentle tannins. Licorice and red cherries. Generous finish.

January 5, 2019 - Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind Rhone Varietals (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. Ripe black cherry and plum with some espresso. Brighter than I would have thought for the vintage with good depth and length. Very enjoyable now.

(GUIGAL COTE ROTIE BRUNE ET BLONDE) #1; COLOR-very dark; NOSE-Gorgeous, beautiful Pink rose; candy-esque (Fun Dip powder); one of the BEST noses in a while; TASTE-Kills it; by far the biggest body of the 3 wines; intense flavor of cherries, cassis & black raspberries; very velvety, explosive & rich; this is what wine is supposed to be - perfect balance of Old & New World; the Syrah is rich, pure & unmanipulated; very true to the Rhone; has the body & explosiveness that you look for in a very serious bottle of wine; green beans bouncing on my palate; little crouton/bready action on finish; you cannot find a silkier wine; just a fantastic CR; can last 7-15 years; great pairing w/ Duck; RP-90/93; GV-93

    (E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde) Lovely red fruit and cherry nose; tasty, tart red fruit palate with good body and acidity; medium-plus finish

(Guigal Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde) A decent colour here, and with some round, sweet and rather young Syrah character on the nose. Rather soft on the palate, perhaps rather unfocused, and slightly hot, a vintage characteristic no doubt. Low acidity, and rather a firm tannic backbone. To me it seems very typical of the 2003 vintage. Hot fruit. It is decent, but there is not much more to say than that.
