October 16, 2019 - My contribution at a Commanderie BYO event. Last bottle from a batch bought at auction 10+ years ago. Some amazing bottles opened on this evening. Survived an early scare where I thought the wine might be off or corked, after about 10 minutes the early funk blew off and the wine was where it should be.

Notes from 2 years ago:"Deep ruby color, mild separation. Nose of red fruits, truffle pencil/graphite, underbrush and violets. Palate showing dusted black fruits, plums, pomegranate, floral notes, and baking spice. Velvety texture, classic Right Bank wine. Medium weight, long finish that showed secondary notes of red fruits and spice."

Consistent with those notes from flavor profile. Texture was classic Pomerol with this wine, plush and elegant. Tannins a bit softer than I remember last bottle. Well stored bottles have a good life ahead of them. Hard to predict but my guess is I think this will be at its best over next 5 years

October 1, 2019 - This particular bottle is the best example of 1990 L'Evangile I've had with lots of intense, Perigord-truffle, mineral, smoky, gamey notes accenting its deep black fruit base. Delicious on the palate with terrific depth and persistence on the finish. A wild, exciting wine in that way that L'Evangile can be. This is likely at its apogee now, but bottles like this are in no imminent danger of decline.

August 14, 2019 - Gorgeous. Dark color and per Som another 20-30 years of life. Lots of earth and mineral on the nose with spices and some plum, anise. Lots of red fruit on the palate and finish. Smooth tannins and just got better and better as it aerated. My first L’Evangile, the 1990 was a beautiful bottle (in magnum, which is always better!)

June 16, 2019 - Lovely, balanced licorice, cigar box, wet forest

Not as amazing as the 98 but still incredible.

Drink soon as i doubt this will improve

May 20, 2019 - Incredibly balanced wine that could most likely go another 10-15 years.
