March 9, 2011 - Shows its youth, pouring a clean violet-red. Deep spicy nose w/ tobacco and smoke, very subdued berry. Taste is big and full of vigor. Tarry, concentrated berry notes flow into a distinct finish of black cherry and vanilla. Finish is lengthy and warming. At this point, the tannins are fairly tight so I'd like to see how it tastes after a few years in the cellar (and at ~$8 US/btl; that's very doable). Not a spectacular wine, but a great find for its price.
