March 25, 2024 - Brought to a dinner with some guests visiting from Piemonte. The 2008 “Taillepieds” pours a deep ruby with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no obvious staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with tart and slightly underripe strawberry, cherry, mushrooms, red flowers, varnish (yeah, there’s some VA) stony earth and delicate baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin, medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The body is fit and the finish is long and full of energy. This is a really attractive beauty; the sort that you might feel compelled to apologize to for gawking. And, while I found this to be really tasty at nearly 16 years of age, it clearly has a long way to go. Drink now through 2033+.

December 1, 2023 - Another good bottle of the after a bunch of bad ones. Medium bodied, quite acidic but enough fruit to make it work. Very classic in the style wth red cherry, tea, herbs and smoke coming through. Not a particularly deep wine. I expect this won’t evolve much further from here.

October 5, 2023 - Popped and poured. After several bad bottles of this finally a good bottle and boy is it good. Earthy nose with a little woodsmoke. The palate is delicious with bright red cherry, a touch of earth and spice. Medium bodied with terrific acidity. Still youthful but not overly concentrated so I wouldn’t wait much more particularly because of the amount of flawed bottles at least I experienced

August 25, 2023 - Another bottle of this with pure barnyard nose. The palate is ok but it’s difficult to overcome the odour.
