  January 8, 2023 - First time drinking such a old vintage. Pale reddish brown truly display its vintage. Only slight hint of freshness of grass, no flora or fruit. Instead I got immerse hint of spice, leather and herb. Tannis is low which just slightly better after 30min of breathing. Acidity still medium and alcohol is low. Balanced wise I would say it’s past its peak. Enjoy it though

Brambles, cream, leather, dried fruits, a little sweet spice, earth, sous bois, slight fruit tea and meaty notes. Lots going on, all positive, with time the tertiary notes grow as well as a touch of mocha. Fresh, juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, slightly baked brambles is fruit sweet, talc textured tannins, non intrusive alcohol warmth, savoury underpin, leather, earth, sous bois, lovely.

  June 5, 2022 - Vinetasters: This and That (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Unmistakably Pauillac. This is just an absolutely brilliant wine, with the pencil shavings note in full display. Honestly, if I needed a bottle to explain what Pauillac tastes like, this would be it. Still some sweet fruit here, alongside some herbal notes as well. Silky texture, too, but it's really the purity of fruit that is so compelling here. I thought this was a decade younger -- 1989.

Leather, earth, smoky notes, a little menthol, slightly dried out cranberry and red cherry, tending to raisin, sweet spice, cedar, Autumn leaves, a little cream and black coffee on the nose. The fruit shows as red cherry and cranberry on the palate, it's juicy, tannins pretty much resolved, but has mid palate breadth, a little alcohol warmth and spice on the finish. Lovely.

  August 31, 2021 - cork crumbled, but the wine was intact - medium red with an orange rim - mature Pauillac nose of cassis, graphite and oak - thin in the mouth but still enough mature cabernet fruit present to enjoy - tannins mostly resolved, but still present - acidity predominates over fruit - medium 10 sec finish - an elegant old Bordeaux that is clearly fading, but still showing very nicely after 40+ years
