May 31, 2021 - Like the 86' the bottle did not show as I had been expecting. Definitely past it's prime. Aromatic still with blackberry amidst a sherry alchol tinged waft. Initially acidic and unbalanced with very muted fruits. Let sit for an hour and it declined further with less flavor and more sourness.

April 2, 2020 - Bought 6b for approx 18/b (including all fees and taxes) in two mixed lots from Michael Davis auctions 23 years ago; this is #4. Decanted with normal (heavy) sediment for its age. Medium purple with a hint of amber edge; some funkiness on the nose initially, then mature cassis, bit of black cherry; good red fruit core, some old leather. Reminded me of an everyday mature Left Bank Bordeaux. Past prime but still tasty and noteworthy for its 32+ years. Bottles from 15-20 years ago were impressive as round Napa cabs with delicious fruit. By the way, the '86 sells for 150/b and the '88 for 140/b at the winery, according to Wine-searcher--glad I bought when I did. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable when considering quality, age, and price.

December 3, 2015 - Wow, don't judge this out of the bottle, PnP'd and fairly muted and un-expressive. After about two hours in a decanter it really opened up exhibiting a predominately dark fruit nose with macerated blueberries and red currants. The palate is so fruit driven and youthful, bright red fruits supported by a medium acid backbone with blackberry and vanilla. This was a great surprise.
