Community Tasting Notes 5

June 9, 2019 - Barbecue at Rainer & Reni. 14% ABV. Translucent medium ruby colour. Plum, dark berries, herbal and ethereal notes. Medium-bodied, with mostly resolved tannin and very good length. More ethereal and dark fruit-driven than most. A little atypical, but I really liked the wine's ethereal style and good balance.

October 29, 2014 - Maybe slightly past prime, but still quite tasty. Cherries on the nose and on the palate. Some leather and spice along with currants on the palate too. A little lighter than expected.

November 27, 2011 - An OK wine in every dimension, but not memorable. The nose has hints of tobacco and cedar, and the fruit is pure cherry. On the palate the fruit was diminished and there were hints of spice, but heavy oak and cedar. The finish was long, but undistinguished. This wine was past its prime.

December 23, 2008 - Cork showed staining, and slight taint on the nose on opening. Decanted and left for an hour, taint vanished, good drinking.

September 17, 2006 - drank with roasted pork tenderloin and roasted red potatoes from the grill, green salad and chick pea salad. Dark fruit, tobacco, oak is light, smooth and mellow, not too astringent. Fairly acid. Nice finish. Went very well with the dinner choice. I'd buy this again.
