August 19, 2018 - After a 2 hour decant, the wine was lovely. Still a youthful, inky colour with a subtle nose of black fruit, bit of leather and oak. The tannins are integrated, leaving a firm but silky mouthfeel that lingers, along with notes of black berry fruit, oak and leather. Lovely with a rib steak.

May 15, 2018 - Inky black almost to the edges where it turns a dark maroon colour. Bouquet of red and dark berries plus oak. Flavours of ripe fruit integrated with wood and acid, fine tannins. Good body, and flows from front palette to back palette with lingering length. Drinking superbly with but one bottle left in the cellar for as long as I can keep my hands off it. 92+ (JH would probably score it at 94+).

April 1, 2018 - The wine exhibit a characteristic of age and developed tertiary characters now.

The wine losing a bit of color at the rim but still maintain dark ruby inside with a touch of brown color.

After 30 minutes, the aroma was full of cassis, eucalyptus, mint, blueberries, cherries, a touch of strawberries, violets, and a hint of pepper. Not oaky or fruit bomb anymore. Something that I couldn’t got when the wine was just released to the market.

One the palate, it was consistent with the nose: blueberries, cassis, cherries, violets, and a hint of strawberries. A bit of nut and mineral also showed up. The body was still medium to full but it was more polished. The tannins faded into the background and gave a supporrting role. No acidity was obvious. The structure still remains strong.

The finished was great, just at the right amount.

Overall, this wine was matured. It is ready to drink and exhibits a character of a decade-old wine. The wine itself if remarkable given that it is not a top-notch wine from Penfolds. It’s polished, rounded, and delicious. This is a wine that worth my patience. I truly love it. It’s a resemblance of Grange 2008; I seriously mean it. Why you have to pay more for Grange when you have Bin 128?

For those of you who have it, it’s time now. You have to try it.

Unfortunately, this was my last bottle in my cellar. I do not know when I will meet this vintage again.

March 6, 2018 - Absolutely delicious. bouquet of garden herbs, licorice/aniseed, caramel nougat, vanilla, red and dark berries. Not getting any Eucalypt or mint. Great body and length. Colour, deep red with purple hues, amazing for a ten year old wine. Balanced with fine tannins and background acid. Two bottles left for longer cellaring, probably another decade. 92+

January 22, 2018 - Still a surprising light Crimson colour. Aroma of ash, old oak and earth. Cherry, plum, prune, pepper, spice and eucalyptus. Leathery tannin, medium plus body. The tannin takes over the fruit and the acid is a bit out of balance. An OK wine but not great.
Much improved on the second night. Much smoother, tannin nowhere near as evident. The black fruits are really coming through. More fuller in body. Needed much more airing before enjoying. Have uped the score a couple of points.
