January 6, 2023 - Lovely wine. Bold and vivacious. Like a female warrior charging into war. Yet soft and subtle. Lots of camphor and some wood (oak?) in the nose. Palate is classic burgundy with dark fruits and cherry cola. Still a bit tannic and needed some time to open up.

July 2, 2021 - Served blind. Big and bold. Quite a savoury nose with plenty oak. Lots of structure. Still tannic despite its 13 years. More black fruits. Thought Gevrey due to the grip. Lovely wine to try in a mini line up of two CdB. The class of the Vinyard is evident. From SJW

January 25, 2020 - Tight at open, needed 4 hours of air to really come alive and settle down. Bright acidity, excellent fruit though a bit lactic at times.

December 1, 2018 - During a Gevrey dinner. Closed initially, then opened more and more after 1h of decanting. A structured wine, too much so for my taste, complexity is there but I wish for more elegance. Probably sourced from Damoy would be my guess given the style. Palate 93. Aromas 95+. Wait or decant. Wait till 2022.

March 3, 2018 - This bottle was very lactic, showed also a touch of oxydation, not sure it was representative as none of the LLM characteristics came to life.

December 22, 2017 - A lost Friday afternoon gathering – 96 Krug mag, 99 Fourrier CSJ, blind CDB flight and etc. (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Expressive nose displaying bright red fruit, strawberry, crushed cherry, very spicy, a hint of marijuana which can be attributed to cedar/oak, nutmeg, sap and earth. Excellent concentration, sappy red fruit driven palate impression, precise and detailed, bright acidity, strong limestone mineral and a long bright red fruit and cedar driven finish. I really like the bright red fruit and precision. Still needs another ten years to gain sous bois. The excellent precision, detail and red fruit made me guess the 08 Bouchard.

September 22, 2011 - Transparent and bright red that turned a bit darker with time. Candied cherry fruit, a hint of strawberry, ripe fruit but not overdone. The oak component is not noticeable. Nice spicy notes, already displaying complex fruit expression of mushroom, nutmeg, animal and earth that are nicely layered. The palate shows sappy fruit, bright piercing acidity and excellent concentration. This is an impressive scale wine that will require 15+ years of aging. 94 for now and I bet 97+ when fully matured.

Although this is a bit ripe the wine is not heavy in any ways. It however doesn’t show much refinement perhaps due to the stage it’s in. Nevertheless this is an exceptional wine with great aging potential.

P.S. There is an animal note and ripe fruit although not as pronounced that reminded me of the 09 Lapierre Morgon. I really think that cellaring the top Beaujolais is the way to go in lieu of the crazy wine prices.

January 28, 2011 - Dull brick ruby. Deep, meaty, red berry fruit. There is earth and flowers on the broad and deep nose. A wonderful, savory veal stock and tomato peel nuance appears with time. Palate is lovely – complete, explosive from beginning to end, great concentration. Red fruit and spice profile. This is stunning wine. (95+)
