February 25, 2021 - Consistent with other positive notes. Drinking well right now, although definitely reserved versus forward in character. Paired nicely with roast duck.
November 13, 2020 - Really in a good place. The perfect spot between too young and too old. Excellent fruit and balance. Impressive. Make me want to find more of this wine.
December 25, 2019 - Entering a good spot - requires some air but everything is in balance, fruit present with a noted mineral finish and cleansing tannin.
November 5, 2019 - Riverside Wine & Spirits Burgundy Tasting: garnet; hint of caramel
December 12, 2018 - A disappointing bottle. Very closed in with a slight metallic, herbaceous taste. Not much fruit. I'm hoping an off bottle as I have a few more.
March 5, 2018 - Dull red with slight browning. The nose is full of soil first, plum, and fennel. Medium weight, almost liqueur-like black cherry combined with some stems and fantastic acidity. As the aromas predict, the earthy base carries through from beginning to end. A very substantial, complex, interesting 2008 which may yet improve.
February 17, 2018 - Solid Burg. To me it was missing the next gear.
December 29, 2017 - Drinking very well after a two hour decant. Nice developing nose of red fruits and some tar. well integrated palate with cherry, tar, savory notes and some herbs all in a full and vibrant palate. Seems to be still on the upswing, glad I have more.
December 27, 2017 - Excellent time to drink this now although it may also develop in the coming years.
Excellent mouthfeel - very good structure and an abundance of a civilised but firm body. Red fruit and a bit of dairy products in the note and mouth.
December 14, 2017 - HDH auction tasting at Spiaggia; 12/14/2017-12/16/2017 (Chicago, IL): A deeper-hued nose, with red fruit and earth that seems classic Nuits. The palate is svelte and powerful, with some riper fruit and dark earth. Classic Nuits profile, and just delicious. As a really full-bodied 2008, this seems a bit of an oddity in the context of the vintage; of course, this is the sort of wine that I'd expect that will stand the test of time (I have not been super optimistic with many 2008s that I've tasted).
