June 20, 2020 - Crisp, nice acidity. Focused. Balanced. Really nice.
October 12, 2019 - The first thing I notice is that the bead is barely there, as if this was an older wine. This is my third bottle in recent months (with Bruce/Alex at Dirty French this summer, and the Spencer J. group at Milling Room this spring), and all three bottles showed similarly: evolved (similar to the '05 Taittinger Comtes recently, although I'm not suggesting it's "old"), mellow, pretty. Showing mandarin orange, grandma's face powder and dried roses on the palate, with underlying acidity carrying the gentle palate. This seems ready to drink now, and I won't age remaining bottles many more years. Just lovely after Trey Anastasio and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, at Town Hall.
July 19, 2019 - Evolving nicely.
More expressive nose than when last tasted 3-4 years ago. Red berries and vanilla. Lovely.
Palate hasn't changed much, still a bit reticent but very elegant, creamy mouthfeel, medium acidity, slightly bitter finish (due to vintage?).
High quality as always from Roederer and very pleasing, but I doubt if this wine will ever truly WOW me.
At least as good on day 3 if not better. More pronounced berry scent and more smooth on palate as well as less bitterness in finish.
Only one bottle left.
August 6, 2016 - Very nice as always. A little richer year brought a touch more fruit to this wine than normal, but still plenty of acidity to make it shine.
May 16, 2015 - Medium rich. Fruity. Small autolytic character. Not completely elegant. Alcohol is a bit obvious. Slightly bitter.
As with all Roederer wines, they are slow to develop. This one still has a long life ahead of it and is probably just going through a mute fase at the moment.
November 30, 2011 - Amazingly fruity offering a fresh core of strawberries and raspberries with notes of biscuit and toast. Elegant but not lacking intensity. Very refreshing and long.
October 24, 2011 - Fantastic complexity and richness, lovely balance with a pretty light rose color and nice finesse.
September 17, 2011 - Very enjoyable.
April 2, 2011 - Ham and oak, not a lot of fruit but delicate with great poise. Much too young to give a precise assessment, but the good news is there are no obvious flaws to be found.
February 12, 2011 - K&L Valentine's Day Rose Champagne Tasting (San Francisco): Good balance of yeast and fruit, but a very traditional champagne with nothing special. Enjoyable, good acidity, nose>palate. 90-91
