June 26, 2019 - Damn fine wine. Still has some fruit, great nose, full bodied. Showed no signs of being over the hill.

September 11, 2016 - Medium (+) to deep ruby, just a hint of garnet on the rim. The nose is clean, with pronounced aromas of ripe red and black fruit and sweet baking spices. The nose is heady and still youthful. The palate is dry, with medium (+) tannins, medium (+) alcohol (13.8%) and medium acidity. This is a very well made and balanced wine that, despite its unabashed New World profile, displays restrained power and finesse. Very drinkable now, but it has plenty of life left and would probably benefit from a decant.

March 20, 2016 - As a collector, it is easy to find expensive wines that cellar well. But it is finding and storing those wines that don't need decades to flourish and also don't break the bank account that brings real satisfaction when it all works out.

This is one of those such wines. Under $40, 4 plus years in the cellar after purchase, a great vintage, perfect timing. The nose explodes from the glass with perfumed red fruits, baking spices, light menthol and licorice. Black cherry, cassis, and black raspberry hit first, melding into a silky mid-pallete where red fruit emerges along with subtle spice and vanilla oak. The finish is medium long and a mix of red and black fruits and just the right amount of acidity to keep the wine tasting fresh and young. Bravo! Great QPR, in the perfect drinking window now, but could hold for a couple more years for sure.
