March 11, 2024 - Hazy medium garnet red. Smells of over ripe strawberries, sandlewood. Somebody said "marijuana - the herb, not the smoke", and I can relate! Sweetness of the fruit is balanced by the bright acid. Silky, medium concentration. A lovely bottle this evening.

March 9, 2024 - Quite interesting to revisit after 8 years... The nose is quite revealing, showing red fruits, sous-bois and spice. Last time I had this I think the tannins were not fully integrated and it felt a bit disjointed, but this bottle showed much more balance and structure. Long finish. This was a great example of what time can do to bring a wine together. Now I am curious to try some other of my 2008 wines to check on their development.

February 21, 2024 - Champagne, Red Burgundy and Riesling - Q by Peter Chang (Q by Peter Chang - Bethesda, Maryland): Expressive nose displaying bright red fruit, mostly cherry with a hint of strawberry, more pronounced sous bois than the 02, rose, grilled cep, Vosne spice and limestone. There is an exotic herbal/marijuana note that I associate with the top 08 red Burgundies. Fully integrated palate, nicely layered generous red fruit, silky and fluid, bright acidity, limestone mineral, and a long bright cherry fruit driven finish with the herbal note at the end. The 08 red Burgundies matured quickly than originally anticipated. The 08 Echezeaux is drinking beautifully.
