June 9, 2013 - A good amount of ripe dark berry fruit with well integrated tannins and mild oak. It has good body and a fairly long finish.

April 20, 2013 - Dark red purple in a tasting pour; near black in the full glass. Nose is full with forward dark fruit and a bit of subtle meatiness. Fruit-forward palate with subtle oak. Dark fruit jam with charcoal and tar on the finish. Tannins are soft but assert themselves a wee bit on the finish. Te darkness compensates for the forward fruit. Acidity is still where it needs to be and keeps it from being flabby. A very nice new world offering with an incredible QPR. DRink now.

February 2, 2013 - Still packs a punch, quite spicy -- decanted for an hour. Pepper and heat, but great with a steak. 12 months in French and American.

May 4, 2011 - First tasting of the 2006 vintage of Bodega Septima's flagship blend, and it does not disappoint! The color is a deep purple, again near black in the glass as a full pour. (5/5) Nose is light on opening, but gives black fruit and mocha jam with some air (11/15). The palate is mouth-filling, smooth mocha with hints of blackberry and plum. Velvety tannins and coffee with 2% milk on the finish (16/20). As always it's a drink now wine, but what a wine it is (7/10), and it could certainly hang on through 2012. Still less than $20, meaning the QPR is very high. Drink while waiting for your Achával-Ferrer Quimera.
