    July 7, 2016 - @Flatiron with Tim and Babs.
Moderate gold in the glass, hints of yellow.
    --------- After ~45 minutes:
It's developing proper tertiary savoriness - sort of a tamari-soaked dried orange with a hint of cinnamon. The acetaldehyde is much less prominent and it's taking on a slight burnt-sugar savoriness. There's a wonderful combination of yeasty brioche, burnt-sugar, petrol, saffron, honey, and tamari. Suggestions of dried Philippine mango.

    --------- Out of the bottle:
Oxidative nose of bruised and browned yellow apple skins. Slight honeyed with pear (botrytis). A slight bitter almond skin note. Hints of hard cheese rind (lees?). Smells oxidized - too far in the bruised apple skin and fig direction.

    In the mouth:
    - lightly sweet - feels 15g/l
    - medium body
    - diminished alcohol - 10.5%
    - high minus acid, tending a bit towards tart malic.
Petrol comes out on the palate (manifests along with a strong mineral tone) along with dried, browned, Meyer lemon skin.

A little over the hill, aromatically, but very nice - maybe around 8.5.

June 25, 2012 - Aromas of apples, citrus and minerals. Although not bedazzling, this still had fairly good acidity and was nicely balanced, soft and charming. It showed more youthful than a 2002 Spatlese from the Saar tasted alongside.

August 6, 2011 - Fresh lemon on the nose, but the acidity was not as obvious on the palate and it came across as flabby next to the '94. Definitely a very different attack.

August 6, 2011 - Chicago Riesling Summit 2011 (Sun Wah BBQ, Chicago, IL): Lemon and stone-fruit notes. Less acidic and thinner than the other wines of the night, and with a very short finish, but still pleasant.

January 26, 2011 - Medium yellow. Petrol and jonquil aromas, followed by fruitier flavors of pear and rotten apple, with a bit of an old school kabinett-spat dryness yet a juiciness and lack of obvious cask character that speaks something more modern. The development shows more nuance and lift, and the vibrant, twangy finish further speaks to the positive effect that age has had on this wine.
