May 10, 2022 - Chambolle 1er dinner: Bottle was opened 6 hours prior by the person who brought it. Obvious alcohol that stuck out sorely and made the nose almost port-like, while the palate had plenty of structure and unresolved tannins that made me guess 2005. This was weaker than the 2011 for me and I don't think that this wine will ever come into balance.

November 6, 2021 - An alluring nose of ripe black fruit, where the oak and spice notes are well balanced. The fruit is ripe but not cooked and surprisingly there is a refreshing amount of acidity. This is enjoyable, and has some characteristics of New World pinot.

September 27, 2021 - Tasted blind. This was quite tight at first with not too much going on on the nose, but there are lovely darker fruit flavors, a hint of spices, and pepper emerging with air. There is also a slightly noticeable warmth on the nose suggesting 2003 as the vintage. The palate is lush with medium acidity and nice fruit flavors with ripe cherries. Good finish. Despite the warm vintage and flavor descriptors, I quite enjoyed this wine. It felt a bit shut down and not revealing everything right now. I'd wait 5-10 years. 92-93+

May 19, 2021 - Dark. Nose shows ripe fruit but not baked. Maturing, concentrated, acid is sufficient and the tannin is strong but not dry. Very good example of the vintage.

September 20, 2020 - Wow, this was in a GREAT place in it's evolution! Lots of fruit up front, plus that faint taste of Pennsylvania Dutch blrchbeer or Frank's black cherry wishniak, with a hint of sage & bay leaf. Resolved enough, yet still fairly decent acidity. Excellent bottle!

February 16, 2020 - Love this - wish I had more. I would say its in its prime now with fruit still primary. But my guess it will live another 20 years but change in character.

November 26, 2019 - Drank with a 99 musigny so hard company. But this was showing well, no green meanies like other bottles and overall what you expect.

March 31, 2019 - The Chambolle Musigny Premier Cru 2003 is a huge step up in quality from the Chambolle Musigny village. Not a surprise as Vogüé Chambolle 1er Cru comes from the young vines of Musigny. Dark and brooding blackberries, cherry cola, scented spicy summer flowers. Full bodied, chubby, slightly cloying on the palate. Grand Cru weight but overriped in my opinion. (88/100)
