February 15, 2016 - Weekly tasting group #204; A fully blind test. (@ DJ): The bouquet shows dark forest fruits, sweet spices , menthol and rustic impressions. Same impressions on the palate, vanilla mild acidity and tannin. Mature and supple and no real hurry. Nice wine.
October 21, 2013 - Seems like it is at or just past prime
April 10, 2013 - I had this a couple of time when we were at Singita and it was clearly the winner. First time when back home.
Minerals, red and blue berries, intense and interesting. Truly a biodynamic vintner and clearly an outstanding wine. Pleased to have bought a case. This resembles a CdP, which is surprising given that its nature would lend itself more resemblance to Hermitage. Anyway, this was great!
January 7, 2013 - Tannins still present so you can hold these for a bit longer. Medium bodied and elegant mouth feel. Blossomed with a few hours of air. Meaty and savory tasting without predominant fruit.
October 28, 2012 - Typical dark purple syrah color with aromas of dried dark fruit, prune, spice, and leather. The flavors are much the same, but not as powerful as I had hoped. Tannins are present and a tad young, but this wine is still quite drinkable now. The finish is moderately short with a touch of complexity. However, the wine paired amazingly well with a grass-fed beef meatloaf.
September 7, 2012 - Great value buy. Enjoyed this wine a lot. Will certainly buy more in the future. A sold oak spine supported by bramble and pepper.
August 15, 2012 - This time, the Rhone blend showed its potential: powerfull, peppery and mouthfull of beautiful berries.
July 13, 2012 - No change from last rating. Enjoyed the wine, needs a solid hour decanted to open up.
May 19, 2012 - Decanted for an hour - bright ruby red - Very lush with juicy acidity, blackberry, raspberry, Chinese five spice and smokey element. There are also some floral and herbal notes. Super wine that if I tasted it blind would think this is a Rhone wine. Nice round medium plus finish. Great QPR if you see it definitely pick it up.
April 29, 2012 - This needed about an hour to open up but when it did, it was excellent. Gripping tannins that soften into pepper and plum. Good stuff.
