November 22, 2018 - The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis) and blackberry. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), lead pencil and black pepper. The body is medium/full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.
Really enjoyable wine showing maturity. Thought I might have caught the wine on the downtrend but still lively.

April 6, 2018 - Just beginning it's mature drinking phase. finally coming into its own. Medium/deep red ruby with no browning Plum and jammy dk red/black fruit nose. Spicy cool plum, dk red berry, blackberry fruit saturates the palate. Still young, but this is quite delicious and, honestly, much better than I thought it was going to turn out based on earlier bottles a few years back. Should hold up well - and even develop - for a few more years. 90+

March 23, 2016 - Let this sit in the cellar for a few years. Wow! What a difference time makes. Perfect balance. What I notice the most is the great mouthfeel and the integration of the alcohol, tannins and fruit. Chris really knows how to create a wine that evolves for the better over time.

October 12, 2013 - Pop & pour thru aerator at home. Nice finish but didn't like the tartness up front.

May 26, 2012 - Great cab. Enjoyed the taste. Blackberries on the front of the tongue. Silky and drank well tonight.

April 13, 2012 - Wanted a good everyday cab to go with bacon wrapped sirloin and a salad. This one fits the bill nicely. Not super aromatic, but dark fruit and vanilla on the nose. Blackberry, chocolate and a touch of licorice. Medium body and smoothly balanced with a medium long finish. Enough complexity to think this will still improve over the next few years. Very nice!

March 15, 2012 - Competent well made wine. Blackberries, chocolate, licorice all present on the palate. Finish short-medium. Not a blockbuster, but at this price point you aren't expecting that. What you really want is for the winemaker not to screw it up and he did not.

February 10, 2012 - We really enjoyed this wine, but I dropped it a point for the clarity. The wine was a beautiful dark ruby red, nearly garnet in color and very full-bodied, but lacking in clarity. Its nose was full of black cherries and a little plum. The lip was a light cherry showing it had a little age on it and the legs were thick giving an indication that the viscosity was relatively high which also proved to be true- it was a nice full bodied wine. The palate also picked up chocolate in the beginning and a nice acidity. It was well balanced and by mid palate you started picking up the drying sensation of the tannins which lingered through the long finish.

January 7, 2012 - Chocolate and black cherries are the flavors that dominate. Nice finish. Coming into its own and should drink nicely for 3 or 4 years.

September 20, 2011 - Quite unfair to review this wine as I opened it after consuming my first Doubleback. It was quintessential Washington Cab, but rather ordinary.
