November 14, 2021 - At a similar point on its gentle trajectory to in my 2019 TN. Very similar descriptors now. Under cork, only a touch of the secondary. Years ahead of it. Entering early middle age. A nice wine.

March 15, 2019 - Under cork. I updated the CT drinking window (2010 - 2015) because this Cabernet Merlot is just getting into its prime drinking plateau now, I suspect (a window out to 2025 seems conservative). Blackberry, cassis and dark plums on the nose with some secondary tobacco and cigar box and a touch of vanillin, chocolatey oak. In the mouth, very smooth, polished and a little soft. Fully ripe, voluptuous, cassis, dark chocolate and black plums. Rich and full. More New World than Bordeaux in impression. Lower acidity and minerality but quite well balanced. Just beginning to develop a little attractive savoury and spicy nuance, tobacco leaf and old leather.

March 26, 2016 - This 9 year old wine is continuing to improve. It has a vibrant deep Crimson colour with mild bricking at the edge. Beautiful palate with cassis and plums. A real stunner and the best Kiwi Bordeaux blend I have had. Still has another 10 years in it.

May 2, 2014 - Quite rich and opulent, very firm chalky tannins which really do dominate the fruit at the moment. The oak and fruit work well, just a young tannic wine still at the moment. Needs some good food to help bring it all together, or another 5 years to soften out the tannins.
