December 13, 2023 - A very nice Sauvignon Blanc from a good bottle, ripe, balanced and harmonious. The nose shows remnants of white-yellow fruit, hay, white tea and a clear but not intrusive flinty aroma. On the palate a vital, ripe acidity, medium body, expressive in flavour, but not loud, very harmonious and with a medium+ length.

September 14, 2023 - the nose was definitely oxidized and caramelized, as I had feared, with notes of pineapple jam. The acidity was still strong on the palate, though, and in fact it was pretty grippy. The second pour, after chilling for around half an hour, was leaner on the palate. With the temperature colder, this was drinking pretty niccely now.

December 3, 2021 - Took a minute to come around- the wine and me to understand what this was, tasting blind I was the first on it, but a combination of factors led me to another really great producer but hypothetical at best (as if Raveneau had a St Bris), I should have picked up on the smokiness and struck flint that is so unique to this, the age has given this a little more of an aromatic appeal than this wine in its youth, deep, layered, viscous, rugged wiry and youthful, angular minerality, bitter melon, lots of herbs and green pepper, almost painfully intense this still has years to go.

November 4, 2021 - Golden color, waxy note, honied, nutty; This was really dark and seemed like it had a lot more age on it than it did. Would have been ok for a 1998, not a 2008. Prematurely aged. DD at Akbar blind--Loire Whites.

April 16, 2021 - Take this tasting note with a grain of salt. First, Sauvignon Blanc is pretty much my least favorite grape. The fruit here was fading in my view and it had the herbal grassy note in SB that I don't care for. The mineral streak in this wine was interesting, but couldn't offset the grassy bits. I like other herbal mineral wines, but not this one.

September 17, 2019 - never understood the style of this house, even visited them and did the tasting with the wine maker once but I just dont get it. tried maybe 3-4 bottles in the past and always lost. Just too big and oily and intense for my taste. hence the low rating.

July 31, 2019 - Complex and perfumed nose of flint, lemon, gooseberries, orange rind, and white flowers. Great acidity and flavors of lime, lemon, minerals, and rocks on the palate. Long finish. 94-95

February 15, 2019 - Wonderfully clear, fresh and deep scent of yellow and green fruits, white tea and subtly citric notes. On the palate delightfully clear and pure. Glorious blend of purity, complexity and vitality. Aromatic a mixture of limestone minerality, seed fruit and white tea with a top note of jasmine. Really multi-layered, very balanced and animating. Nice length.

July 26, 2018 - I don't even love sauvignon blanc, but this was terrific. There is a reason it sells for over $100. I took it to a tasting of reds with some geeks and they all went gaga over this wine, fun! too bad it was my last bottle.

July 5, 2018 - Pefect-aged Sauvignon Blanc. A sample for a very good Silex vintage. Exceptionally complex and mineral Sauvingnon; Very delicate enamel on the surface, otherwise the wine is pure and precise like a Swiss clockwork. Flint, fine saltiness, subtle citrus notes; bell clear as glacier water. The acid is perfectly integrated and carries the wine to its long finish. A great pleasure with a high drinking flow.
