June 1, 2019 - Always a little disappointed when I have this...not enough flavor or structural complexity for me...tastes two dimensional and flat. Medium bodied...still very easy to drink though

June 1, 2019 - Verhaltene Nase, im Mund typ. Bordeaux, aber etwas streng, nicht sehr rund. Am selben Abend getrunken Rolland de By, 2003: War besser!

May 11, 2019 - Carruades de Lafite 2000. Mid garnet. Classic Pauillac nose (cedar, leather, light Cabernet, earth; mid body, balanced, refined elegant style. Long smooth finish.

February 17, 2019 - Anticipated opening for 19 years. Have to say it was only just fine. It was probably worth the $50 I paid in 2001. I wouldn’t pay the $275 it’s supposed to fetch today. Nothing wrong — typical Bordeaux profile. Color and nose were lovely, as was the texture.

February 17, 2019 - I agree with recent previous reviewers. This was surprisingly good and tasted like it easily has 10+ years left. It was both youthful but very drinkable. Very Pauillac on the nose with Black fruit, cigar, oak, pencil lead, and some brett, I was really impressed as I had low expectations given the critics generally pan the Carruades. This tastes about as good as the 2000 Lafite at the moment. Reasonably smooth on the palate and enjoyable to drink, this leaves you wanting another glass, especially knowing it's $300+ a bottle. I'd rather drink Pichon Baron or Lynch Bages for less, but if someone else is contributing as it was in this case, I'll have a glass of this.

(Carruades de Lafite Pauillac) The second wine of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. A wonderful youthful colour. A rich nose, full of red and black fruits and black olives, with a perfumed edge. Medium bodied and elegant on the palate. There is a touch of power though. Good sweet fruit, and a little tannin. Needs another year or two but then should be ready.
