Community Tasting Notes 3

July 21, 2012 - - Crimsom color and aromas of blackberry. It's balanced and has flavours of tobacco and blackberry with a medium/full body. Round texture with a medium finish - Very nice wine but lacks a little excitement factor. A touch short on the finish but drinking very well right now and should go on 2-3 years without much issue. Black fruits with tobacco, as per previous comments, malbec is evident, but is not unbalanced. Tannins integrated but still providing good structure.

March 7, 2012 - {cork, 13%} Some garnet/brick colour. Developed (bnot really aged yet) nose of twiggy aromas, leafy notes, light currants; but always elegant and ripe. The palate is solidly medium-bodied, backed by some gentle cedary oak, with ripe gumdrop/hard flavours, some distinct curranty fruit, medium gravelly but quite fine tannins, medium acid, and an even palate. Doesn't make a big impact but keeps drawing you on. Tobacco-like flavours gradually become more prominent. A blend of cab-s, merlot and malbec, in which the malbec seems to play a fairly prominent role. Best within 3 years probably; as a flagship wine it's a fairly modest effort, but at a bargain price (A$28) instead of the homeland asking price of nearer $50 I won't complain. Does a good job of blurring the line between a new world cabernet blend and a lesser (say good bourgeois) bordeaux.
