Community Tasting Notes 9

June 13, 2020 - I have always liked this wine having rated 4 bottles from my cellar between 90-93, but it has been 10 years since last tried and time has taken its toll. Still a fine dark purple color. Upon opening and first sips a musty-corky element on nose and palate. After 15 minutes or so it disappeared leaving a smooth drink of charcoal, earth and minerals. The fruit is gone, but a nice drink nonetheless.

November 25, 2010 - 4th bottle tried, and I still rate it higher than other CT tasters. Dark purple plum in color. Cherry, blueberry and bell pepper on the palate. Less sweet than prior bottles but alcohol has subsided. A very nice Zin that is built to last.

March 26, 2010 - Heavy, almost viscous body with deep plum color. Nose was almost musty. Immediate first impression of taste was molasses, followed by leather and black cherry fruit. This might have been a fruit bomb earlier in its life, but now it's all about the background tastes moving forward. Finish was sweet and a little hot.

November 27, 2009 - 3rd time trying this wine from my cellar, and I still like it a lot and continue to rate it higher than other CT tasters. Dark purple. Cherry nose with a hint of raisin. Oodles of fruit, cherry and cranberry, with some smoke and pepper. A hint of alcohol but very enjoyable and balanced nonetheless.

February 14, 2008 - Nice ruby red color, the nose is masked with strong alcohol but some fruit (baked cherry) is noticeable. It is tough to get past the alcohol - it hits in the beginning and continues through the finish (rather short).
